Lux Helsinki 2026–2027

Lux Helsinki is Finland's massive midwinter light-art festival, drawing hundreds of thousands to a route of illuminated installations through the dark Helsinki streets. Its next edition runs across eight nights from 30 December 2026 to 6 January 2027.

Planning tips

  • Go after dark (typically 17:00–22:00) and dress for deep cold
  • Combine with New Year in Helsinki via the Tallinn ferry
  • Weekday evenings are far less crowded than the weekend

Tallinn event days feel best when they stay simple: one event block, one food anchor, and one walk — with buffer so nothing feels rushed.

  • If you're making a full day: one museum/neighborhood block + event + a calm evening plan.
